RECRUITMENT OF HAVILDAR EDUCATION
IN THE ARMY EDUCATIONAL CORPS OF INDIAN ARMY
IN GROUP 'X' AND 'Y'

1. Applications are invited from candidates for recruitment as Junior Commissioned Officer
(Catering) in the Army who fulfill the following eligibility criteria :
(a) Age Limit : Between 21 to 27 years as on 28 December 2009.
(b) Educational Qualification : The candidate must be in possession of the following
qualifications :
(i) 10 + 2 or equivalent from any Education board recognised by Council of Board of School
Education in India. Candidates should have working knowledge of either English or Hindi or
both.
(ii) Diploma/ Certificate course of a duration of one year or more in Cookery/ Hotel
Management and Catering Technology from a recognised Food Craft Institute/University.
2. Number of Vacancies : 04 (Four)
PHYSICAL STANDARDS
3. Minimum physical standards will be as applicable to the Soldier General Duty category.
These vary depending upon the region of the country. The country has been divided into
six regions, e.g Western Himalayan Region, Eastern Himalayan Region, Western Plains
Region, Eastern Plains Region, Central Region and Southern Region.The details can be
obtained from the nearest HQ Recruiting Zone/IRO Delhi cantt / Army Recruitment Office.
MODE OF RECRUITMENT
4. Screening : Screening of candidates will be carried out as per the programme issued by
Recruiting Offices.
5. Physical Fitness Test : Physical fitness test will be applicable as given under
(a) 1 mile run in maximum 6.20 minutes (b) Pull up (Beam)-minimum of 6 (c) Balance -
Qualify (d) 9 feet ditch - qualify.
6. Medical Standard : A candidate should have robust physique and mental health, chest
should be well developed having minimum 5 cm. expansion, should have normal hearing with
each ear. Should have sufficient number of natural healthy gum and teeth, i.e. 14 dental
points. Should not have diseases like deformity of bones, hydrocele, varicose veins or piles.
Should be in medical category SHAPE-I in terms of Special Army Order 6/S/2005/Rtg dt 05
Aug 2005 as ammended from time to time.
7. WRITTEN EXAMINATION
Only those candidates selected in the screening will be permitted to appear in the written
examination which will be conducted only at HQ Recruiting Zones/ IRO Delhi Cantt on
05 Jul 2009. The written examination will be of two hours.The exam will comprise of one
composite question paper of 100 Mark. Min pass marks will be 40.
8. Result of the successful candidates in the written examination and coming up in the
merit for interview along with the interview dates will be communicated by post and list
will also be displayed at respectiveHQ Recruiting Zones/ IRO Delhi Cantt . Recruiting
Organisation will not be responsible for non receipt of communication due to postal
errors/incorrect address furnished by the candidates.
INTERVIEW
9. The candidates declared successful in the above written examination and placed in the
merit list will appear for Interview at nominated Regimental Centre. Candidates will be paid
travelling allowance from their home station to interview centre. Those who qualify in written
examination and interview and finding place in the overall merit list will be selected for the
post.
10. Candidates who are serving with any organisation and are selected for the interview
will produce "Non Encumbrance Certificate" from their employee at HQ Recruiting Zones/
IRO Delhi Cantt before despatch to the interviewing centre for interview.
T.A./D.A.
11. No T.A./D.A. will be admissible for appearing in screening and written examination.
TERMS OF ENROLMENT
12. (a) Selected candidates will be commissioned as Niab Subedar (Group 'Y') after
completion of Military and Technical Training.
(b) Pay and Allowances : Junior Commission Officer will be placed in the Pay Band -
2 (Rs 9300 - Rs 34800) as per 6Th Pay Commission. You will also be entitled to Grade
Pay (Rs 4200/-) + Millitary Service Pay (Rs 2000/-) per month. In addition to the above,
liberal pension, promotion prospects, Group Insurance, Army Welfare Housing Scheme,
60 days Annual leave and 30 days Casual Leave, free medical treatment for self, family
and dependants, entitled ration and other allowances as admissible to the regular Army.
SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION
13. Candidates are required to submit their duly filled Application Form along with all
required documents as per the format duly superscribed "APPLICATION FOR JUNIOR
COMMISSION OFFICER(CATERING)" on the top outer cover of the envelope to the
Headquarter Recruiting Zone/ IRO Delhi Cantt of which the individual is domicile of and that
he has to appear for written examination from the same Headquarter Recruiting Zone/ IRO
Delhi Cantt only. Application submitted to the Headquarter Recruiting ZoneIRO Delhi Cantt
of which the candidate is not domicile/native of will be Rejected. Last date for submission
of application is 25 Apr 2009.
